Chapter 8. The Truth

The beautiful melodies of singing birds filled the air as the early sun bathed the room in its golden radiance. I relished the warmth that seeped through the curtains and enveloped me beneath the silky blanket. I loved the comfort and calm that surrounded me, dressed in comfy pajamas and a green blouse.

As soon as I opened my eyes, I noticed Xavier's presence. He wore a camel wool peacoat, black pants, and a shirt, and his focused gaze was fixed on me. I sat up against the bed, tucking the blanket tighter about me, as a chill ran down my spine.

"What exactly are you doing here?" I inquired, my voice tinged with mistrust.

"Where else do I go?" It's my room,"

he responded flatly. I expected you to stay awake all night thinking about the man you love. But here you are, sound asleep. What was his name?"

I was irritated. "Logan! What did you do to him?"

"He is still alive," said Xavier quietly.
