"What about you? "I asked all of a sudden. Jessy raised her heavy eyes to me, yawning deeply. I watched her, sliding a finger between her breasts to her belly. "You said you never allowed yourself to love, because of your father. But about your relationships, was there never a time when you asked if it would be more than just sex?”

Jessy considered it. I wondered if she could see the lines of that question. My hope that she would know that I was referring to our relationship. If she ever hoped that that sudden and powerful attraction between us would become more than just a lascivious desire. I wondered if she could see that each of my touches was no longer just a recognition, but a promise, a choice.
