The charm seemed to have a weakening effect on me, as I dropped the sword on the floor.

“Rihanna, this isn’t good!” Lana yelled.

Like I couldn’t see it. I was losing the will to fight back. “You are despicable! What do you want my energy for?”

“What else? Long life. And power.”

Was he Logan’s son too or what? “Truly, Lycans are evil at heart! It just takes the right amount of pressure to bring it out!”

He frowned, standing upright. Slowly, hair began growing from his skin and his head got bigger. “It takes the right amount of pain too!”

His voice shifted to growls at the end.

Pain? If the death of his father was what made him a jerk, then it wasn’t plausible.

Pain could break you, but it could also make you—positively. He didn’t heal from the pain and sucked it into himself.
