Victoria POV

"What did she say to you?" Vincenzo asked, his tone dripping with a cold, menacing aura. I knew I had his attention now, not the jester who had been toying with me earlier.

I folded my arms across my chest and explained the rude remark his assistant had made. I further described her countenance to him. The foreboding silence in the room was almost tangible, and he looked down at my face before nodding. With his hands in his pockets, he turned back to his desk and picked up his office telephone to make a call.

After a few seconds, he spoke into the phone. "Get in here," he said calmly, his voice devoid of any emotion. I had no idea what was going on in his head. Surely, he wouldn't let the matter die down that easily... right?
