Chapter 495

He went to the small emergency toolbox he kept in his closet for quick repairs. He took out a lever he never thought he would have to use. The woman at the Ace Hardware store told him he would be surprised how many times rolling doors got stuck, and you had to lift them on, or off the tracks to repair them. This door was not stuck, but it was coming off the track for a totally different reason.

He walked onto the balcony, put the lever into position, and stepped on it. The door rose ¾ of an inch above the track. Fred heard the locking mechanism give way. He stepped off the lever, put it into his back pocket, and knocked on the glass door. Sandy opened the drapes, and saw her father standing there. She waved thinking she was safely on the other side.

Fred waved to her as he slid the door open.

She screamed, and tried to back away from her father. She accidentally wrapped herself in the drapery, and could not move.
