Chapter 19

Colton grabbed my arm and pulled me away from Elena and away from the campfire before I even got around to hearing the rest of what she had to say.

I could hear her shouting in the distance something about how she wanted all the money she was due for doing her part. Tears of anger pooled in my eyes. So he was a thief and a womanizer. Just great.

Colton was pulling me along without caring if I protested or not. I tried to brake my feet but he kept walking ahead of me and taking me by force. At one point I lost my balance and stumbled against a medium-sized rock. My knee hit the ground with a painful thud, I felt the blood starting to coagulate into a hideous bruise.
