Chapter 40
I took my eyes off the ground and concentrated on not directing my fingers to his face, he had a light layer of beard that made him look exotic. He was dressed in a simple shirt and pants of comfortable fabric.
I opened my mouth to say something but fell silent automatically when, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a girl moving gracefully inside the apartment.
"I guess I shouldn't have come," I said, feeling unwelcome and extremely uncomfortable.
" I agree with that," he said tightly. He crossed his arms and blocked my way out the door.
My heart sank slowly. It hurt.
This was a stupid idea, anyway, if either of us was going to make the first move, it had to be him, not me.
And it was more than obvious that at the moment he was busy with nothing more and nothing less than Elena.
She bolted for the door, facing Colton and giving me just a pitying look.
