Chapter 16

A few of my guards who were within eyesight bowed their heads at me. I held mine high as I walked to the front door.
"No business today. If something arises, deal with it. Got it?" I instructed my head guard and he nodded in response.
I opened the front door widely. The bright sunshine hit my face, and the glorious summer heat rippled off the clear water in the fountain before me.
I took a deep breath as I inhaled the fresh air. "Would you like to accompany me to lunch, Eric?" I asked.
I did seem to like his presence and his personality was refreshing. I wanted to find out more about him, and delve beneath his surface. However, I didn't wait for an answer from him as I walked down the front steps.
I heard the crunch of gravel behind me as Eric made his way down before he came to stand beside me. I crossed my arms and waited. Shortly after, a car was brought before me.
