“It sucked, Harin,” I said, laughing, grabbing a pan to wash my hands and start cooking. But before I began, I remembered the earlier suggestion, and to lighten the mood, I took off my shirt, making Harin laugh as he sat on one of the stools by the counter and even gave me a thumbs up.

“Did you talk to each other?” he asked, grabbing the bag of candies. I let him take one but kept the rest and saw him squint at me.

“Unfortunately. He told me Ji-a’s baby is a boy.”

“A boy? Woah…”

“Yeah,” I sighed, looking at him.

“And how did that make you feel?”

“I guess normal. I mean… Harin, I think that baby isn’t mine, so… I don’t want to have any expectations.”

“I understand and respect your decision, but if he is, it means you’ll have a son and a daughter.”
