POV: Jaewon
“Will you stay, ma’am? Can I tidy up the guest room?” Harin asked.
Mom was having some tea at that moment. I was washing the few dishes, and Harin was drying and putting them away. So, we were together.
I looked at her and saw her smile.
“Can I stay? I don’t want to bother.”
“You never bother, dear,” I said.
“Then I’ll stay,” she smiled, finishing her tea, handing me the cup to wash, “and let me organize the room myself.”
Harin nodded, smiling as she went to the bedroom.
When we were alone, silence returned, along with the awkwardness.
The smile Harin had died, and he remained focused only on the dishes. But when he finished, I took a deep breath, waiting for him to finish drying and helping him put them away.
“Are we going to stay like this?” I decided to ask.
He kept a serious expression.
“You decided that when you turned your back on me and left.”
