Chapter 104

Aria's POV

“Jade? Why can’t I heal myself?” I asked quietly, groaning lightly at the pain in my back. I had tried to heal myself from the wounds, but it hadn't worked.

Jade sighed, sounding resigned. ‘I don’t know. My guess is that you can only help others, but not yourself.’

I closed my eyes as pain shot through my back.

“Rhea? Any luck in getting across to Knox?” I asked, even though I knew the answer.

‘No,’ she whimpered, ‘No luck,’

Tears welled up in my eyes, but they didn’t fall.

The door creaked open, and I flinched violently.

‘Bloody vampires,’ Jade cursed in my head, and I silently agreed with her. They were so quiet that they could creep up on you without a sound.
