“Maybe? I don’t know.” I shrugged, suddenly feeling exposed, standing nearly naked while he remained fully dressed. “You had drinks with Leo earlier, right?”

His face remained impassive for a moment before breaking into a grin. “Actually, yes. Someone did slip something in my drink.”

“I’m kidding,” he cut me off, laughing at my expression. “Jesus, you’re easy to mess with. I’m not high, Madison. I’m fully awake and completely in control.” He stepped closer, running his hand down my bare back. “Why so concerned? Afraid something might happen to your boyfriend?”

I jerked away from his touch. “You’re not my boyfriend, Mr. Knight.”

“Yes, I am.” His voice was firm, brooking no argument as his hands returned to my body, this time gripping my ass possessively. “For all intents and purposes, I am your boyfriend.”
