Before I could process this, his tablet chimed from the bedside table. I looked over to see the same name flashing on the screen. Katherine was apparently trying every method to reach him.

I picked up the tablet, intending to silence it, when I noticed the notification showed multiple missed calls from the same contact over the past few days. Three yesterday. Two the day before.

My finger accidentally swiped the screen, opening his photos app. I froze.

Staring back at me was Katherine, the mysterious ex-girlfriend I’d been so curious about. She was even more stunning than I’d imagined. Long blonde hair, piercing eyes, and a smile that lit up her entire face. Alexander had his arm around her waist, looking at her with an expression I’d never seen on his face before.

I swiped again, unable to stop myself. More photos. Katherine in a bikini on a yacht. Katherine and Alexander at some gala, her in a red dress that hugged every perfect curve.
