“Ask it if it is hurt,” he said to her.

Rose repeated the question to me and I looked at her puzzled.

“No, thank you, I’m fine,” I said.

“Ask it if it breathed the water,” the man said to Rose.

Again she repeated the question to me. This was beyond bizarre.
