Chapter 68. A Quiet Lunch

Soren POV

Keeping Ayla away from the Kingdom of the Wizards won't be that difficult, at least as far as I know, even though they're placing runes in specific places in the castle. During the two days that Ayla was resting, Victor, Ishtar and I went through the castle with a spell to identify magic and discovered four runes near the entrances to the imperial wing, which is where I stay, along with Victor and James.

This obviously alerted the enemy and Ishtar said that there were probably more runes, but that they might have been deactivated since she couldn't locate the source of who had created the runes.

At least for now, the wing we're in is free of outside magic, only mine and Ishtar's are here. It's not as if I can do much, but I do have a few magical tricks up my sleeve, I'm too old not to be able to master a bit of "mana", which is a kind of energy that wizards manipulate to create spells.
