Chapter 89
After taking a trolley, I quickly gathered an array of bandages, disinfectants, wound ointments, gauze, compresses, adhesive bandages, and stitching supplies. I knew I was somewhat excessive, particularly when I tossed three different boxes of pain and inflammation medication into the trolley, but I preferred to over-prepare than to leave something essential behind.
By the time I exited the store, only five minutes had passed, swift as a flash. I heaved all the bags into the back of the Jeep and slid into the driver's seat, steering us out of the parking lot before long.
Despite my ability to handle tasks with remarkable efficiency, I couldn't shake the feeling that Xavier's quiet gaze was piercing into me as I drove us all back to the apartment.
"Thank you," Steve said once we arrived, as I maneuvered to the back of the Jeep to retrieve the bags, while he took a few in hand to assist me. "For what you must have done for Xavier."<
