Chapter 117

Scarlet was awake when he entered the room, but she pretended to be asleep because she was too afraid to see what reaction he would have to her being awake. Because Collin’s weight moved the bed when he lay down next to her, she was concerned that he would discover that she was only pretending to be asleep.

She waited until he would leave the room, but he didn’t. Instead, his fingers were tracing a line into her lips, and it took more of her self-control than she had to keep from opening her eyes and staring directly at him. However, why not? That was well within her capabilities! She slowly opened her eyes, waiting to see what kind of reaction he would have. When Collin noticed that she was blinking and then slowly opening her eyes, he rolled over in the bed.

“I instructed you to tidy up rather than go to sleep!” Before he stormed out of his room, he yelled at Scarlet and then walked away.

As Collin slammed the door, Scarlet raised both of her eyebrows in surprise
