“Chloe!”
“Mrs. Schneider!”
“Chloe Myers!”
“Child!”
Everyone was calling her name, but she didn’t give a damn. All she ever wanted was to get the hell out of that place and find peace.
She ran and ran until her feet reached the rough ground outside the building. She ran as if she was chasing after her own peace of mind as if she was chasing her own rest.
She never stopped running until her legs finally gave in—until a familiar sound of a car engine approached her from behind.
That’s when her true savior appeared, “Hop in!” shouted Bridgette while peeking her head from the rolled-down car window.
As soon as she saw the empty passenger and backseat, she tagged along, “Get me out of here, please!”
“Aye, aye, captain!”
Bridgette put her right foot on the gas pedal and accelerated like there was no tomorrow.
When they finally hit the expressway, Bridgette stopped at the emergency park and put her hazard lights on.
