"You can go in now, ma'am," the receptionist said to Jane who smiled at her and then stared towards Marcus's office door.

She remembered the last time she had shown up at his office, unannounced, and how her life had taken a rougher turn after she caught him and Abigail together in his office. She quickly brushed the thought aside and took in a deep breath as she reached his door and knocked.

"Come in," Marcus said and Jane did so.

The office was just as she had remembered, the only difference being the desk that had been changed. But she also noticed that Marcus's tie was resting on his table and two of his buttons were undone.

"I almost thought you'd never agree to see me," Marcus started before she could say a word.
