"And you think coming here all by yourself was the best decision?" Caleb asked with a loud voice as they passed the parking lot to the car waiting for them.

"I had it under control!" Jane replied but suddenly regretted the words once they came out.

Caleb turned to face her fully.

"That? That was your control?" He asked, pointing back at the building. "Who knows what he could've done to you if I didn't show up! Jane, what were you even thinking?!"

Jane huffed and rolled her eyes.

"I only wanted to warn him to stop sending me the gifts."

"And you didn't think it was better to let me know so I can handle it?"

"I wanted to sort it out peacefully."

Caleb shook his head and opened the door for her to get in. Jane noticed the driver looking at her quizzically and then sighed when Caleb came in through the other door.

"My car," she said to him.

"The driver will get it back home," Caleb replied without looking at her.
