Chapter 34
Sienna’s POV
The laughter died in my throat. It felt like someone had punched me in the gut. Daniel. And Jake. Surrounded by all those women. Their arms around them, their heads thrown back in easy laughter. He looked so happy. So free. So completely over me.
I gripped my glass. My knuckles turned white. The bitter taste of my drink matched the one in my mouth. Lila, beside me, was still chattering about some gallery drama. I forced a smile. A wide, fake one. “Oh, that’s hilarious,” I said, my voice sounding too bright. Too high.
Lila stopped talking. She turned her head slowly. Her sharp gaze landed on me. She knew. She always knew. “Sienna,” she began, her voice soft. Careful. “Are you alright? You just went a little pale.”
I waved a hand, trying to be breezy. “Me? Pale? Never. Just the lights in here. They’re dreadful. And this drink is a bit strong. Making me feel a little woozy.” I took a large gulp. The burning liquid did nothing to calm the fire
