Chapter 24. We Don’t Have Any Choice

In a room in an orphanage

A black-haired woman looked asleep and was already lying on the bed. She was not alone, for there were two other people there. They seemed to stare at the bed with a feeling of sadness mixed with pity. The atmosphere in the room was quiet because no one had started a conversation at all.

"How did that happen, Madame Loiston?" asked the woman in the white dress softly.

The name's owner also turned to the person who had just asked her. A grey-eyed woman was gazing at her. A woman who had worked in the orphanage for seven years seemed annoyed, so the interlocutor realized this, whose expression looked guilty.

“The ordinary people who did not experience it firsthand would not believe it. I told you before asking for help, but you keep asking again. If I lied to you, then who is the person that sleeps in that bed, anyway? Is she a ghost in your eyes?” replied Loiston, half sarcastically.
