I could only avoid Jenna’s persistent questioning for so long with the excuse that I was tired after last night, to which she mocked the hell out of me, but it was better than admitting that I slept with the man I’d been avoiding for so many years and that I feared it was something more.
The next day at the diner, it caught up with me, and I could not evade Jenna’s curiosity anymore.
Tara was on her makeshift playground behind the diner, the one that Aidan had come in with “reinforcements” to make safer for her to play in, so I kind of ran out of excuses to give Jenna.
