What had happened? Or rather, what was happening?

Everything had moved so fast that my brain was struggling to keep up. My mind felt fuzzy, my heart pounded so hard that blood rushed through my veins, as I lay on the bed, frozen. I couldn’t see. I couldn’t move. I couldn’t speak.
