Chapter 100
Damon
The building had begun to settle for the evening. Most of the staff had gone home, leaving the air in the tower thick with silence, the kind that wasn’t peaceful but… heavy. Something about today felt off. And I knew exactly what, who, it was…
Lysandra.
The one person that I did not expect to find myself thinking of, I was here, being worried and concerned.
I’d seen the look in Sienna’s eyes when she mentioned her earlier. She hadn’t said it to gain my sympathy, and there wasn’t judgment in her voice, either. It was something else. Worry? Maybe. But deeper than that. Something that I couldn’t wrap my fingers about no matter how hard I tried to do so.
So, after finishing up with the remaining documents in my office, I found myself walking toward Lysandra’s door, even though I wasn’t sure why. My chest ached, and for a moment, I debated on whether or not to step back, to leave her alone, not to approach.
I stopped at the threshold.
