The sound of urgent footsteps echoed through the pack house like a war drum. I turned away from the window just as the infirmary doors burst open.
My frowned in confusion. The sun till already hit my nostrils, but I did not expect this.
Two medics stormed inside, flanking a stretcher, on it lay a bloodied figure I recognized immediately. Delilah. Her face was pale, her chest heaving unevenly, but she was alive.
Barely.
She was not only a woman who entered our pack and chose to play us for fools, she was also his daughter, an enemy created to destroy us. He may try to create her that way, and I was not going to allow that to happen. I wasn’t going to allow her presence to stay or linger longer than necessary.
A cold fury burned in my veins. I hadn’t even realized I was moving until I was halfway down the corridor, steps fast, my shoulders squared and posture straightening with every stride.
