The nursery had never felt quieter and the air around me never felt tighter than it did now.

Luna Evelyn’s words played in my mind and for a few moments I found myself doubting myself and her rights, what she had meant and when she spoke to me about how I was supposed to be the Luna, how I was supposed to stand strong.

But how could I stand strong when the woman that was supposed to be my sister’s half sister or not was an enemy as well? And not only that, that enemy had tried to play my relationship, my mating bond. She went as far as getting inside my mate’s head. And it’s not something that I can just easily swallow.

I leaned against the wall, my knees suddenly weak as though every ounce of strength had been siphoned out of me. My daughter being in my embrace should have grounded me, should have calmed me down, but it did not help the turmoil, the storm and everything that I was feeling brewing inside of me.
