It took me a second to remember where I was.
His room.
Last night came rushing back in flashes, his stubborn insistence, our ridiculous argument, the way he tossed that damn t-shirt at me like it was some sort of surrender flag. The pillow fight. The laugh I hadn’t meant to let escape my lips. The way our eyes met, making everything seem real, making me think of the moment that the two of us were sharing…
I turned slowly, expecting to see him already gone, expecting his side to be cold, but I froze when I caught sight of him.
He was still there. Hell, even the idea of him being there at all was not one that I expected. I thought that he would be gone the second I closed my eyes to sleep.<
