Sienna had left the job.
That alone should have made me feel better. Should have eased the tension in my chest knowing she wouldn’t be walking into another trap set by Giovanni, or sitting in a room where every corner was controlled by his influence. It should have given me a sense of comfort knowing that she was safe within the pack with our daughter.
But it didn’t.
Because now she was locking herself in.
Retreating.
Hiding.
And that wasn’t her.
No matter how hard she wanted to convince others that she was alright, I knew that she was not.
