When I thought I would see the fear in his eyes, I was wrong. He was even proud of me.

When he rejected me, I thought it was because I was merely human— a fragile, weak human. Maybe it was, but I didn’t care that much right now.

After what happened to me and to our lives for these past few weeks, I understood why he didn’t want me to be a part of this strange and dangerous world. He was protecting me.

Knight wanted to protect me, but I could not escape my fate, which was destined for me.

“Don’t look at me like that while you are sitting on my lap, Nirvana. It’s dangerous to poke a bear.”

“Is that the other way around? A literal word of poking? To poke a wolf.”

He smiled. It was wicked. I saw the glint in his eyes and felt his bulge poking my butt. “I try to behave like a gentleman here, Nirvana. My wolf is naughty tonight.”

“Tell him I like him being naughty than nice.” I traced a finger on his bottom lip.
