“I used to be able to look you in the eye. I used to be able to understand what you were trying to say without you saying it, but I cannot do that anymore, Liam. I cannot find myself being able to look you in the eye and understanding anything that you're saying. Because I don't know whether or not you're telling me the truth. I don't know how deep your manipulation started running.” She said, looking away from me. “I can't do this anymore. I am trying to hold strong, but it is only for the sake of our daughter. But don't ask more of me because I cannot offer it.”
Her words cut sharper than any blade. She spoke of betrayal, of years of standing second, of the divorce I shoved in her hands, and though I knew every syllable was true, hearing them now was unbearable.
