Chapter 4. Game On
“No, he’s busy enough helping Alpha Kamilah and Alpha Magnus from the other continent,” Kai said.
“Then give us a protection spell, anything-“
“No, it’s too late. I don’t wish to be involved in your trouble.”
Kai instantly grabbed his neck and said, “Remember the time we protected you? Why not return it or else my fangs will be buried deep in your neck, old man.”
“I can’t go against the moon goddess's wish-“
“That’s bullshit, do anything you can.” Zef threatened.
The necromancer sighed, “Alright, I have this temporary protection spell I might try. Remember, once the Lycan King gets you, don’t blame me.” And he chanted a few Latin words, and a bright light appeared and left Alpha Kai and Alpha Zef’s chest.
“But what about this mate thing? Can’t you just change-“
“It’s the moon goddess’s job. I can’t change it. Unless you can go up there yourself and talk to her.” He said, “Which is impossible to do.”
Kai rolled his eyes at him and said, “You’re useless. Come on, we’re wasting time here.”
Zef then motioned me to get into the car while the two of them talked.
Which is useless since I could hear their arguments even here.
“So, we’ll just have to share our mate? We’ve been sharing things our whole life, Zef. I won’t let that happen.” Kai said, his voice laced with so much irritation.
Zef sighed, “Why are you yelling at me as if it’s my fault? I guess this is a price we must pay for being born here. How cute of the moon goddess.” He trailed off, then smirked, “You know it could be fun in bed.”
Kai rolled his eyes, “Oh for f*cks sake, be serious, even for once, Zef. Are you really letting this happen?”
Zef looked at him and said, “Of course not." Remember, we’re twins. Our existence is forbidden, just like the old man said. "
Kai clenched his jaw, “I don't like sharing what’s mine.”
“Neither do I.” Zef added. “So? What now? We’re going to share her?”
They both have a staring contest for a minute, both not backing down. They looked like they could kill someone who would dare interrupt them.
I got out of the car and faced them, “I have a suggestion. I’m fine with having you both or none at all?”
They turned to me irritatedly, “No!”
Just then, a lopsided grin popped on Zef’s face, “You know what this means, Kai.”
Kai nodded, “Yep, definitely.”
They both smirked at me, and I looked at them, “What? What are you two planning?”
“If both of us can’t have you, it’s expected that we can fight for you. Let’s see who will win.” Zef explained.
Kai grabbed my right hand and said, "Oh, bring it on. I’ll definitely win her.”
Zef stopped him and went to my left hand, “Sure sure, let’s see in the future.”
I looked at them disgustedly, “You’re treating me like a prize in a game?”
Kai looked at me, “Why? Isn’t that your purpose?”
Tsk. I don’t even understand what’s going on in their minds. These twin alphas. I silently formed a plan in my head. That’s right, I’ll make the both of them fight for me. If I can’t win and escape from them, what’s the use of outsmarting them?
That’s it. I’ll try to play it cool for now. Let’s see how it goes.

No one was talking when we got back. Zef returned me to my room while Kai left for some thinking.
“Remember, you’re mine. Don’t listen to Kai from now on.” He said, “Promise?”
I shrugged.
“Samantha will come to tour you around. Make yourself comfortable.” Zef said.
How can I be comfortable with them walking like a ticking time bomb?
This will only be temporary, so I guess I should explore around so I can proceed with my plan of escape.
It didn’t take long for me to wait as the door opened and a she-wolf appeared.
“Hi!” she greeted, her bright smile appearing. “I’m Samantha, Zef I’ll help you around here.”
I nodded, “Hi. I’m Arya.”
“So, you want a tour?”
I nodded, feeling a bit tired, but I have to know the way in and out here…
“Good, then let’s go.” She linked her arms with mine and directed me to the main hall in the pack house. I looked around to see there were around fifty of them there.
“It must be confusing for you to suddenly live in a weird place, but trust me, you’ll get used to it. I was once a stray wolf when the twins took me in. They might not be nice and don’t have a good reputation, but they really help a lot of us here. We’re the abandoned.”
I blinked. Is she talking to the same twin I have in mind? The way she rambles on excitedly about them irks me. How could she be so positive while living here with those rascals?
I’d rather starve on my own than be tormented by them.
But my impressions left the moment she finished touring me. It was the most comfortable place I could have stayed in since I practically lived outside and was always on the run... They had their own rivers, training grounds, rooms, comfortable beds to lie on, and even a library with historical events. They do not have to worry about losing food and starving.
It must be nice to live in comfort with no worries like I did in the past.
“Not bad,” I commented, silently wishing that my pack was able to live comfortably like this...
“Right? I’m sure you’ll love it here.”
Yeah, right. Love is indeed an exaggeration. If ever, I’m simply looking for an easy way out to get my revenge, but Samantha doesn’t have to know that.
“So how’s the alpha to you?” she asked.
I shrugged, “Uhm... they killed my father and my mate. How could I say they are good?” I answered her.
She gulped, looking at me pityingly, “Oh, I apologize for what happened. But at least they got you here and let you live for free and with protection.”
Does she even know what she’s saying? Suddenly, my good impression of her vanished.
She then whispered, “Don’t ever make a move on Zef. He’s mine.”
Oh, a delusional one. Her true colors are finally appearing. Gone were the good, good girly ones I saw earlier.
She then winked, “Are we clear? If you need help, don’t hesitate to go to me.”
She then directed me to another crowded place. “I’m sure you must be hungry. Here’s the dining hall.”
She said this and disappeared to get food for me.
The other wolves were looking at me, and I acted as if it didn’t bother me. I just want to return to my room now.
Samantha came back and showed up with meat on a plate.
“Here, eat.”
I nodded and was about to munch on the food when a voice stopped me.
“Stop.” Everyone went silent as Alpha Kai approached me. He sniffed at the food and raised his eyebrows at Samantha, “I see what you’re trying to do, Samantha. Whatever you’re planning, back off.”
Samantha looked at him innocently, “What? I’m not-“
“You just tried to poison my mate,” Kai said, and everyone gasped in shock. Not at the word poison, but at the word mate.
Samantha looked at me disgustedly, “Mate? Her? A rogue one?”
Kai nodded, “Yes. Now if any of you attempt to make another scene like this, your heads are going to fly off. Understood?”
They all nodded, and Samantha rolled her eyes at me.
Kai looked at everyone before grabbing my hand and saying, “Let’s go, Arya.”
