Chapter 61. I Knew I Was Safe
Caleb’s POV
I didn’t want to move.
Selena was still asleep, curled half on top of me, her hair tangled between us and her arm draped across my ribs like she’d claimed them in the night. She always ended up like this; sprawled and warm, possessive in her sleep in a way she never allowed herself to be when awake. Her breathing was steady. Her magic buzzed faintly beneath her skin, a soft pulse I could feel against mine. It had a rhythm now, syncing to my heartbeat, and I knew it wasn’t my imagination anymore.
She was aligning to me. Or maybe I was aligning to her. Either way, it felt like something ancient was clicking into place.
I didn’t want to disturb her, but the sun had already begun creeping over the ridge, spilling pale gold through the upper window. Patrols would shift soon. I had responsibilities and an entire pack slowly, silently looking to me like I was already something I wasn’t. Not yet. Not officially.
I pressed a kiss to her temple
