I slipped my hand into Alexander’s as we walked through the grand entrance of the pack house together.

With his free arm, he carried our sleeping daughter close to his chest, while I gently held the dozing Thea.

The familiar scent of cedar and pine washed over me as we stepped into the foyer - a scent that once meant home.

“We should put the girls to bed,” Alexander said softly, still cradling our sleeping daughter in his free arm. “Thea’s room has a queen-sized bed—they can share tonight.”
