Third-Person POV
The previous hours had been a maelstrom of fear and crushing anxiety. Maeve had slipped away from the castle, and Draven was consumed by dread, unable to fathom how she’d escaped or what dangers she faced beyond Winter Howl’s territory. Then the terror ended when Galen mind-linked him to announce that his mate had been found.
Raw relief flooded Draven. His wolf, Ryker, surged forward, growling excitedly at their mate’s safe return. Draven darted to meet her, aching to pull her into a long embrace despite the complications she presented.
That relief was violently snuffed out the moment he saw her companion. Standing beside Maeve, entirely unconcerned, was Dorian—his little brother. Dorian’s return was shrouded in mystery; they hadn’t seen each other in a long time, for reasons Draven wished he could forget. But the shock of his brother’s reappearance was immediately eclipsed by consuming anger at seeing him with Maeve.
