Chapter 22
Avery was given enough job to keep her busy by Mrs. Lanning who had sworn to make her life a living hell and she sure was keeping to her promise, she purposely made her work more than the others girl. To her more work means making Avery weaker.
“Hey, Red, your attention is needed,” one the girls that works in the kitchen called out to Avery.
“By whom?” Avery asked hurriedly cleaning her hands on her green tattered gown.
“M’lord.” The young girl replied and turned back to the kitchen.
Mrs. Lanning looked at her with anger and pure hatred in her eyes.
‘If only look could kill,’ Avery said to herself.
“Behave, witch, I don’t know what you have done to Tristen, but I promise you, I will break whatever spell you have used on him,” Mrs. Lanning said angrily.
Avery wanted to defend herself and tell her she did not cast any spell on Tristen, but she decided to just ignore her and rushed to Tristen room to see him.
