Over a year after she had left Bryan and the bank to find peace away from his taunting and disturbances, long after Gerhard's death, she and Brenda had bumped into each other in town. Brenda had snubbed her with obvious deliberate anger.

Hurt at such hostility when they had been such friends, Sharon had caught up with her and demanded to know what the problem was.
