Chapter 64. The Afterlight

For a second, I get the absurd idea that everyone has left. Gone to Tussel and left us alone in the camp. The feeling that follows my assumption is strangely akin to relief.
The door swings open sharply and he walks in just as quickly, his tall frame eclipsing ours in every way possible. Cyran already has his bow and arrow in his hands, but he eases when he sees who it is.
“You could knock,” he says, “I could easily have pierced you.”
Caivan smirks shortly at Cyran. “I’ll take your word for it, considering what you did to my friend.”
Cyran jerks a little, as he looks up and holds Caivan’s stare. The latter waves a hand.
“He let slip about your marksmanship, and he isn’t mad over it, so why should I? I’m not here to hurt anyone, so you can be at ease, elf.”
