Chapter 76. A Vision

Darkness.
I’m supposed to be used to it, the eternal bleakness of black. Maybe if I was in control of it, I would.
But I’m not. Each time I’m drawn in here, it’s like I’m a fly in a web. In a dark web. And the spider hovers about, never coming, but reminding me of its presence.
“Help!”
I cringe at the word, at the sound of my voice, pathetically small and…helpless. You don’t have a choice. Something is wrong, something terrible happened to you since Citadell. You need to be helped…you deserve to be helped.
“Do you?”
I jerk at the voice. A low, snarling voice, all around me, it seems to speak.
“Who’s there?! Who are you?!” I bark, my claws sliding out of my fingers.
It chuckles, a sound that makes my skin crawl. I’ve heard it before, somewhere I don’t want to remember, but I can’t place it. And I don’t want to do that either.
