Chapter 175. To Her Husband

The city lights looked like wild fireflies on a cold night. Their lights looked attractive and welcoming, opposite to the reality that I was going to face when we finally entered the city.
The arch of the city welcoming everyone came into view, and I knew the time I had with Ashlene was limited. The timer has started to run. And the time counts less and less.
Ashlene shifted in her seat beside me and checked her bag on the back seat.
“I have to inform Lyle I’m close,” she said and reached for her bag from the passenger’s seat.
I had to stay still. Her face was so close to me that I knew if I turned a little to the right, our face would touch. Quite the contrary I was trying to establish within myself.
“Yeah, you should.”
“As for the car, I’ll ask someone to fetch it tomorrow. I won’t bother you anymore. Thanks for your offer.”
The offer expired the moment she said she’d be coming home to Lyle’s tonight. I mean, not that I expect
