Chapter 153. Getting in on the Act

I should have been reviewing financial reports and preparing for a meeting with the directors of my branches in the USA, but I wasn't. Instead, I was looking at a photo sent by my private investigator. Sarah and Ryan were in a café, talking like friends. Although I didn't like Ryan getting close to Sarah, I didn't forbid it. There were two main reasons for that. First, he was an employee, and I couldn't control his relationships outside of work. Second, Ryan would be an intermediary to keep me informed about Sarah. If that wasn't beneficial, I had two options: act unethically, force Ryan to stay away, or fire him. I didn't intend to do any of that.
So, the day after our conversation in the helicopter, I traveled to Portland while Ryan met Sarah in Seattle. Following my orders, the loan shark gave Rachel a final deadline to repay the borrowed amount, along with interest, within thirty days.
