I heard light and familiar knocks on the door, so I granted permission for the person to enter. I swiveled my chair to face the office entrance, ready to find out the reason for the visit. I was taken by surprise to see that the "visitor" was Rachel, but I shouldn't have been, after all. Rachel probably saw me at the nightclub, and now she has some pieces of the puzzle behind recent events.
"I see you didn't expect my visit," she said, her tone as arrogant as I always imagined it would be, even without ever having spoken to the girl personally.
"Have a seat," I indicated the chair in front of my desk and waited for her to sit first before positioning myself in my CEO chair.
"Thank you for the courteous gesture," her tone was full of sarcasm, and that only increased the antipathy I already felt towards her. "I imagined you would send your security to throw me out of here as soon as you realized the visitor was me."
