Chapter 299. Unexpected Proposal

Before even opening my eyes, I felt Enrico holding me, providing security, although it was contradictory. I allowed myself to stay in his embrace, even though I was hungry.
"You haven't eaten since yesterday," he whispered.
"What can I say?" I questioned. "I'm hungry, but I don't want to leave here."
"We need to face reality," he said, unmoving.
But my physiological needs forced me to go to the bathroom. Afterward, I faced my reflection in the mirror, feeling lost.
"Rachel..." Enrico called.
"Am I bad enough not to have privacy?" I asked, my voice choked.
"Open the door, Rachel!" he requested firmly.
"I don't want to talk," I repeated what I had said the night before. "Leave me alone, Enrico. I just need some time to think."
I turned on the faucet, cupped my hand with water, and splashed it on my face, trying to improve my appearance, which was bad, with eyes marked by dark and deep circles.
