Rachel was asking someone to leave, and I realized it was Dorothy, who reappeared wanting an unwanted approach. I didn't want to talk to my mother, but in the face of her pleading tone, I agreed to listen.
"Okay, then," I conceded, curious about what she wanted to discuss.
Rachel was getting ready to leave, but I held her, asking her to stay. Embracing her, I asked her to stay to hear what Dorothy had to say.
"I think it's best to leave you alone, Enrico," Rachel insisted.
"The girl is right, my son," Dorothy seized the opportunity. "The matter I have to discuss with you is extremely personal, and I would like to talk alone. Is that okay?"
"No," I replied assertively. "It's not okay. Rachel will stay here in the room, and if you want to tell me something, you'll have to do it in her presence."
Dorothy sighed, heading to a sofa, indicating she wanted to sit.
"Let's sit down," I allowed.
