Matteo’s POV

I watched her strip, her smokey grey eyes filled with sadness and silent pleas that I wouldn't listen to. Each time I thought about the lies then remembered how her family tortured my brother and I, rage welled up in me.

"Don't do this, Matteo. Please, you'll hurt me." Her voice was intent with fear which wasn't directed at me but for me.

I was losing myself slowly to the darkness that called out to me and I had hoped that she would be my light, but she just proved to me that no one needed to be trusted and now I understood why my father hated women.

Scratch that. He was inhumane and that was why Aurora came to the house to seek revenge.
