Chapter 10. Warden of the North
AURELIA
While my mind wallowed in thoughts of the gods, another roar trailed through the space. I caught a glimpse of another being lunging at me just before the larger entity caught her by the throat! She seemed weaker, frail, and female because her hair was long and gray. She struggled, wriggled, and squirmed until, like a juicy fruit, the larger entity squashed her neck, allowing blood to splatter all over like water from a burst pipe.
My eyebrows furrowed in a puzzle as I watched this enormous demon fling the remains of his kin away like some weed, then turn to me again. Good Lawd!
The expression on his face slowly transitioned from a fiery one to a relatively soft one. Then, his eyes formed a crescent, like those of a remorseful puppy. He slowly reached for me, but when I saw his long, black claws and bloodied bronze armor, I cowered backward.
