Chapter 27

GRACE

My back hurriedly peeled off the wall and eagerness ran through my mind as the doctor and Mr. Powers exited Ruby’s room with patience in their footsteps. 

They were yet to fill me in on what was going on. Even as they walked out, they ignored my anxious self and approached the stairs. Once all that was left of their presence was their scents, I entered Ruby’s room.

While sexual desire was devouring my system earlier, Ruby had fallen on her ankle that got hurt. She tried to get up, but couldn’t and the pain became worse.

As I stared at Ruby’s peaceful face, I wondered if her heart condition had a connection with her inability to get up. I crouched to push away a strand of hair in her face, and noticed that she did not have her favourite teddy in her arms, so I went to her wardrobe to get it. Once the bear was tucked beside her, I adjusted the blanket.

With a soft smile on my lips, I walked out of the room. There was a strong need to find Mr. P
