The flashing neon lights flickered erratically above my head as the club’s music faded into the background. A moment ago, the pulse of the bass had been deafening, vibrating through the floor beneath my feet while bodies moved recklessly beneath the colorful lights. The entire place had been swallowed by darkness and temptation.Now, the sudden brightness exposed everything.Faces twisted in confusion.

Half-empty glasses scattered across tables.

People blinking against the harsh lights as they struggled to adjust.

The once-dim corners, where shadows had danced freely and secrets could hide, were suddenly illuminated.

Everything was visible.

Everything except the person I was looking for.

My breath came too fast, chest rising and falling as panic clawed its way through me. I spun around, scanning the crowd once again.Nothing.No sign of him.

No familiar face.

No suspicious figure disappearing into the crowd.
