Colt's exact words. Whispered in my ear as we left Dean's office.
And even one hour later, the memory of his deep voice, his warm breath against my ear as he confessed something so dirty, made me breathless.
Beside me, Dean was slumped against the backseat, eyes half closed, face drawn tight.
I sighed, turning to look out of the window at the spread of Olive hills and copper-toned earth as our car sped towards the raw quiet of the valley.
Did I stupidly feel sorry for Dean despite how horribly he treated me, after what he had done to me, Colt, Harper and all those other people he had hurt in the past?
Yes! I could not help it.
We had been a real couple for months leading up to our wedding date. And also, unlike Colt and some other people who might enjoy torture, and drawn-out painful deaths, I did not.
