Chapter 31. I Warned You
At this rate, I would develop some type of heart problems. Even while living with my aunt, I was not so on edge.
“Olivia!" Dean barked now, startling me. “I’ll ask you one more time.” He walked closer, his shoes creating a clop-clop sound that was background music for my dancing anxiety.
“Who was here?”
“Why ask me when you can check your security footage?” I asked nonchalantly, walked to the bed and took a seat, even though my thighs were quivering.
I was betting on my bluff to discourage him, but it didn’t.
He walked back to the ottoman and picked up his laptop.
My heart was racing so much now I had to start exhaling through my mouth as discretely as possible.
My palms sweated, but I knew I could not rub them. That would be a dead giveaway.
His fingers flew on the keyboard for a couple of seconds, and then he stared at the screen, his eyes narrowing.
